University Police Alerts and Timely Warnings List
An incident has occurred on or near a University at Buffalo campus that may pose a continuing threat to the university community. This warning is provided so that you may take whatever action is deemed necessary for your safety.
Remember that there is safety in numbers. It is best to travel with others, especially after dusk. Always be cognizant of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity to the University Police. Use the UB’s transportation services or the Anti-Rape Task Force escort program. Call 829-2584 for more information.
Members of the community are urged to be vigilant at all times. Report any unusual circumstances or suspicious persons/activities to the University Police as soon as possible.

11/19 Strong Armed Robbery
Buffalo Police are investigating a strong-armed robbery that occurred on November 19, 2009 at about 10:25 p.m. on Main Street at Englewood Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The suspect is described as a black male, 5' 4" tall, wearing dark clothing, and a white and gray knit cap. The suspect may have followed the victim from the Main Circle bus stop down to Main Street and forcibly stole the victim's purse. Buffalo Police have informed University Police that they have had several robberies reported where the victims were all wearing large gold hoop earrings and have asked us to share this information with our community as well.
11/15 Sexual Assault
University Police are investigating a report of a sexual assault that occurred on November 7, 2009 on the North Campus. The suspect is known to the victim, is not a student at the University and has been banned from the University pending further investigation.
11/15 Assault
The University Police are investigating an assault that occurred on November 15, 2009 at 2:00 AM on the sidewalk next to the Townsend Parking Lot on the South Campus.
The suspects were described as 4 or 5 white males with the primary aggressor described as wearing a white t-shirt and Timberland boots, with dark hair styled into a faux-hawk. The victim was knocked to the ground and kicked repeatedly. The suspects were not known to the victim.
10/11 Strong Arm Robbery
University Police are investigating a strong-arm robbery reported October 11, 2009 at approximately 10:45 pm on Rensch Road near the intersection with J.J. Audubon Parkway. The victim was approached from behind and shoved to the ground.
The suspect was described as a light skinned black male, approximately 6' 2' tall, medium build, in his late 20's to early 30's, with short black hair, and thin goatee. The suspect was wearing blue jeans and black fleece with a white undershirt. The suspect was last seen running westbound on Rensch Road towards Sweethome Road.
10/4 North Campus Robberies
University Police received a report on 10-04-09 at 10:10 pm of a student who stated he was robbed at gun point on Lee road near Jarvis B Parking Lot. A second student reports also being robbed shortly after the first reported incident between Ketter Hall and Putnam Way. Victims reported the suspects were two black males, both wearing dark clothing, one wearing a black scarf on his head armed with a silver handgun. One suspect was reported to be approx. 6' tall, the other approx. 5'8" to 5'10' tall. Suspects last seen on foot from Ketter Hall toward Fronczak B Lot.

The bike path suspect of June 5's alert was captured on June 10, 2009.
6/5 Safety Alert

Amherst police are looking for a man that may have been involved in two incidents of performing a lewd act on the Tonawanda and Ellicott Creek Bike Paths.
On May 7, at approximately 1:15 pm, a white male in his late teens or early twenties weighing about 170 pounds was seen on the Tonawanda Creek portion of the bike path engaging in a lewd act.
On June 1, a similar incident occurred on the Ellicott Creek portion of the bike path, about a mile from North Forest Road with the suspect description matching that of the person from the earlier incident. This person was wearing a sweatshirt and sweat pants.
Anyone with information should contact the Amherst Police at 689-1393.
4/29 Safety Alert
University Police received a call on 4-29-09 at 1:38 am of 2 students who were robbed at gun point by Hayes Hall. University Police immediately broadcast this information to Erie County Police Agencies and Buffalo Police Department apprehended the suspects. Suspects were positively Identified and turned over to the University Police. The University Police Investigators will work with Buffalo Police to see if this crimes is related to 4/27 safety alert.
4/27 Safety Alert
The Buffalo Police received a report of an armed robbery which occurred at the intersection of Main street and Englewood avenue at 2:05 am on Monday April 27, 2009. Three male suspects approached the victim and displayed a revolver. The suspects took the victim's iPhone and laptop. The suspects were last seen running through the Townsend parking lot and then behind Saint Joseph's Church.
The suspects were all described as black males wearing dark clothing. The shortest of the suspects displayed the revolver and had some kind of mask. The victim was not hurt.
3/20 Safety Alert
University Police received a report of a strong arm robbery which occurred at the Governors Service Lot at 8:20 pm on Friday, March 20, 2009. A male suspect approached a female victim from behind, pushed her to the ground and attempted to flee with her purse. The victim was able to regain possession of her purse from the suspect who was last seen running towards the academic spine.
Suspect is described as a white male, 6' tall, 165-185 lbs, muscular build, wearing a baggy black hoodie and black sweat pants.

2/15 Safety Alert
The Buffalo Police are investigating a sexual assault, reported today, that occurred at an unknown location along Main Street, between Chippewa Street and the South Campus, on 02/15/09 sometime between 2 am and 2:30 am.
The suspect was described as a short Middle Eastern male in his 40's, with black hair, a goatee and mustache. He spoke with a heavy accent. The suspect was driving a red minivan taxicab.
One way to protect yourself is to have a plan in advance for leaving a club or party so that you are leaving with other friends.
2/3 Safety Alert
University Police are investigating a strong-arm robbery that occurred on February 3, 2009 at approximately 7:55 pm in the Main/Bailey Parking Lot.
The victim was approached from behind and assaulted by a group described as four black males, 5' 10" - 6' 0" tall, in their late teens to early twenties in age, and all wearing dark clothing. There was no weapon displayed in this incident and the suspects fled eastbound on Main Street. The suspects took the victim’s bag of food that was just purchased at a fast food restaurant.
1/31 Safety Alert
There have been numerous vehicle break-ins that have occurred on the North Campus and in the surrounding communities.
The University Police have a special detail of Officers working on this and have already made one arrest, but we suspect there are multiple suspects involved.
THIS IS A TOTALLY PREVENTABLE CRIME! Keep your vehicle locked. Remove all valuables from the inside of the vehicle, including GPS mounts and loose change. Report any suspicious activity to the University Police immediately at 645-2222.
1/23 Safety Alert
University police are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins that have occurred over the past several days in the parking lots on the North Campus.
Suspect vehicles involved in the thefts are a silver pickup truck with an unknown NYS license plate and a newer model black Dodge Durango with a NYS license plate beginning with "EAY".
Keep your vehicle locked. Remove any valuables from the inside of the vehicle, including GPS mounts. Report any suspicious activity to the University Police immediately at 645-2222.
1/16 Safety Alert
University police are investigating a series of 6 vehicle break-ins, reported on January 15, that occurred over the past several days in the parking lots adjacent to the academic spine on the North Campus. There are no suspects at this time.
Keep your vehicle locked. Remove any valuables from the inside of the vehicle, including GPS mounts.
