In an emergency at any UB campus, check these communications vehicles. UB regularly uses these media to alert faculty, students, staff and visitors to changing campus conditions or operation issues.
Phone (area code 716)
- Emergency Text messaging. Sign up for cell phone text messages at emergency.buffalo.edu
. - Call 645-NEWS (6397) for up to date info on emergency events
- Call University Police (645-2222) or pick up any emergency blue light phone. (For general information (716) 645-2227.)
- If telephones are inoperable, temporary phone banks will be set up to allow students and families to connect.

- Public address systems. Listen for announcements from University Police cars, libraries, Student Union, Alumni Arena and several residence halls.
- WBFO-FM 88.7. UB’s public radio station
- 1620 AM UB’s traffic advisory station. 24 hr broadcasts of parking and emergencies, audible in five-mile radius of both campuses.
- Local radio stations
Watch
- Campus cable television. Located in campus housing, dining areas, lounges, Student Union, athletic facilities and many academic buildings
- Signs & Posters. Located in the Student Union, campus housing, bus stops, buses and shuttles, and public areas.
Ask
- UB Housing staff. In an emergency, they will go door-to-door or hold floor meetings to alert you.
- Any University Police officer.
- Any UB staff or faculty member.
- Any UB office.
